I am a Professor at the University of the District of Columbia. I received Ph.D degree in Computer Science from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in May 2010. My main research areas include HCI, Visual Analytics, Information Visualization, and Big Data Analytics. In the past, I have published many scientific research papers. Currently, he concentrates more on Visual Analytics that is a research area where visualization and analytics face together. In Visual Analytics, HCI (Human Computer Interaction) paradigm is deeply considered by researchers by increasing the overall performance of analyzing complex dataset and digging out unknown, but useful knowledge.
Here are some current research projects.
iPCA (interactive Principal Component Analaysis) is a system, with which uses are interactively analyze data. It uses Principle Component Analysis (PCA) that is a widely used mathematical technique in many fields for factor and trend analysis, dimension reduction, etc.
Interactive visual analysis is an important approach for analyzing network intrusions in order to discover significant differences among various attack categories. To address the effectiveness of identifying network abnormality, an integration of various data analysis methods and visualization techniques has been studied.
GVis (A Scalable Visualization Framework for Genomic Data) is a framework with which it is possible to brose the phylogeny hierarchy of organisms from the highest level down to the level of an individual organism of interest and also analyze each interest gene by initiating the gene-finding and gene-match analyzing tool. The framework permits one to navigate through and explore large amounts of genomic data (thousand of genomes or more) using a 2.5D space layout.
Machine learning and cloud computing technology are important for us to better identify threats and speed up computation times. In recent years, the MapReduce computing platform, particularly through the Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS), has been used to perform advanced computational analysis. In this project, a development of innovative approaches with integration of the cloud computing technology to perform intrusion detection analysis as well as rainfall prediction is considered.

My hobby is photography. I built up my hobby when I was in college. At that time, I joined a club to learn how to take pictures and how to develop. Although I knew how to develop black and white film, my personal style has been changed a lot after digital camera came out. Nowadays, almost everybody has a digital camera. Some people try to take pictures and modify them by applying special effects. However, I still not prefer to adding any special effects onto taken pictures.
